Karina Conen (1960, Buenos Aires) is a Visual Artist who develops work in painting and mixed techniques. Conen studied Graphic Design with the renowned Designer Martin Solomon at the Parsons School of Design in New York (1988) and continued her Design education at the Escuela Panamericana de Arte in Buenos Aires (1989 - 1991).

During the first years of her artistic production, she produced pictorial work using oil techniques, studying painting with the artist Kenneth Kemble and later with Inés Bancalari, Claudia Brito Sousa and the Chilean artist Matías Movillo.

She continued researching within the drawing media and live model in New York at the Arts Student League, and in Buenos Aires under the tutelage of Ernesto Pesce at the Association of Friends of the National Museum of Fine Arts and with Eduardo Faradje in his private studio. In 2000, she attended the Taller Sur founded by the abstract artist Alberto Delmonte where she ventured into the use of color, composition and the fundamentals of Visual Arts with Silvia Della Magdalena.

Accompanying her artistic practice, in 2004 she began the career in Art History by the theorists Miguel Ángel Muñoz and Susana Smulevici, to complement her knowledge in Visual Arts.

Since 2016 she has been part of the Laura Messing Studio where she continues to experiment with mixed media, collage, acrylic painting, and presently attends the Project Workshop 2020.

Karina Conen's current work stands out for its rhythmic abstract compositions that rest on the contrast, tensions and vibrations of color. Her pictorial production is closely influenced by her initial training in Graphic Design, giving rise to great aesthetic quality work.
